Jiaolong completed the first flight and set off for home

The maximum submergence depth was 4837 meters for the 84th dive to obtain sea cucumber, starfish, willow coral and other submarine organisms.


On July 31, Jiaolong launched the tenth dive operation of the trial application voyage in the Marcus-Wake Mountains of the Western Pacific Ocean in 2014, successfully completing the scientific research mission of the first leg of this year's trial application voyage, and the ship Xiangyanghong 09 set off and returned immediately.


On that day, Jiaolong made its 84th dive and successfully completed two dives in the Marcus-Wickham Mountains. The divers are Tang Jialing, Gaoxiang and Wang Chunsheng. The maximum depth of dive is 4837 meters. The underwater time is 9 hours and 24 minutes. The underwater operation time is 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Two sea cucumbers, two six-wristed starfish, one willow coral, one armored shrimp, three pipes of sediment and eight liters of near-bottom water samples were obtained during the dive. High-definition video data of submarine geology and megabenthic organisms were captured, and physiological and psychological tests of divers and video shooting of in-cabin operations were carried out.

Starting from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, on July 4, the ship Xiangyanghong 09 aboard Jiaolong carried out the scientific research task of the first section of this year's pilot application voyage of Jiaolong. Since July 16, Jiaolong has carried out eight dives in the Caiweihai Mountains of the Northwest Pacific Ocean and two dives in the Marcus-Weikehai Mountains of the Western Pacific Ocean. Several scientists and engineers have followed the submersible deep into the seabed, and obtained abundant samples of submarine organisms, rocks, crusts and a large number of high-definition video data.
